Episode 33: Pastor & Author Scott Sauls

Pastor Scott Sauls is one of the most prominent voices when it comes to how Christians can and should should respond to potentially contentious conversations about race, social issues, politics, and religion. His new book that came out in early June, A Gentle Answer: Our Secret Weapon in an Age of Us Against Them, is a timely, necessary book in a year of racial unrest and political contentiousness.

Written to serve as a guide as we enter what looks to be a turbulent election season, the racial unrest that has arose from the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others have presented another layer of tension that enters the conversation, both literally and figuratively.

Sauls, who is the pastor at Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville and also authored Jesus Outside the Lines: A Way Forward for Those Who Are Tired of Taking Sides, provides some keen wisdom on how Christians can approach these issues with the gentleness and love that the Bible speaks about.
