Episode 12: Sarah Rylynn

This is one of the most important conversations I’ll ever have on this podcast.

Sarah and I connected a couple years ago over our shared experiences of grief. Sarah was the best friend of Christina Grimmie, a popular YouTube singer who also appeared on Season 6 of The Voice. Following a concert in Orlando in June 2016, Christina was tragically shot and killed during a meet and greet with fans.

As you can imagine, the last few years have been incredibly difficult for Sarah and he’s processed a lot of her grief and struggles with her own faith publicly, both online and through her podcast.

When I experienced a tragic death in my own life, I reached out to Sarah, and it sparked what has become a really valuable friendship. It’s been awesome getting to know her and process our own grief together. It’s comforting to know that other people experience the same emotions, even when those emotions include confusion and anger toward God.

I asked Sarah to write the foreword for my book, and this conversation is a pretty good lens into both her story and mine and some truths that the book will include.

I’m so grateful you’re here today for this conversation. It’s not by accident.
