Episode 28: Reitz Girls Tennis Seniors

Our season was canceled due to COVID-19, but that won’t stop us from having a makeshift Senior Night for these girls. As many of you know, this Spring was going to be last season coaching high school tennis at Reitz High School in Evansville. Even though Emily and I moved two hours away to Bowling Green, I was going to live in Evansville during the week for the two months of the season and coach this time.

These senior girls were a huge reason why. They’re incredible students and human beings on top of being great tennis players. Several of them have 4.0 GPAs, and they all have big post-secondary plans. So we’re closing out our April Athlete Features will the Reitz High School senior girls tennis players.

They’re a huge reason why it was so hard to say goodbye to this program, especially without even having a final season and getting to have the proper closure.

I’m so grateful we got to have this conversation. If you’ve ever played a sport, you know how special the bond is with your teammates. I hurt for these girls that they weren’t able to have their senior year, but I hope this provided a little bit of closure.
