Episode 27: Tyler Huckabee of RELEVANT Magazine
I have an affinity for wit mixed with a little cynicism and sarcasm. Because of that, Tyler Huckabee is one of my favorite Twitter follows, and he was one of the first people I wrote down as someone I wanted on this podcast as a guest.
I’m glad to finally get him on here to talk all things faith and culture. Tyler is the senior editor at RELEVANT Magazine and is one of the best writers I’ve read in a while. His stuff during COVID-19 has been especially poignant, particularly this article entitled, The Church Will Not Sacrifice Anyone for the Economy’s Sake, which we talked about in this conversation. I really appreciated what he had to say about Christians and COVID-19 and how we can and should respond to the pandemic. Tyler also lives in Nashville and gave an update on the relief efforts for the tornado that ripped through the middle of town in March just before COVID-19 shut down the city.
Tyler is also known for his knowledge of superhero movies and comic books, so we talked quite a bit about that and, for someone like me who knows very little about that culture, he gave a rundown of a good entry point in terms of content and explained the differences of DC and Marvel. He also gave a preview of a couple superhero movies coming out this year.
